Joshua Lee Brooks, 48, of Metamora, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, due to a single car accident in Oklahoma City, OK.

He was born on August 31, 1978, in Peoria, IL, to Ronald Brooks and Carol A. (Smith) Loser.

Josh leaves behind his mother and stepfather, Carol and Monte Loser; children, Dominic (Cheynne) Brooks of Chicago, IL, Lauren Brooks of Bloomington, IL, Lilly Brooks and Lexus Brooks both of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Braylynne Brooks, Braxton Plice, Beckham Brooks, and Theodore Brooks; brother, Justin (Kelsey) Breen of Chillicothe, IL; sisters, Melanie Breen of South Pekin, IL, Neomi Brooks of Camp Grove, IL, and Kristin Brooks of Peoria, IL; step-brothers, Nathan (Jaimie) Loeser of Sparland, IL, Troy Loeser of Dunlap, IL; step-sister, Ambria (Devon Shorb) Morrison of Colorado and Tara Breen of Pekin, IL; aunt and uncle, Linda and Gary Freeburg of Metamora, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins along with many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty and Freeman Shelby and great-grandmother, Pearl Knowles.

Josh was a very talented young man with his artistic skills. He was a carpenter, roofer, and tattoo artist by trade. His best buddy was his dog, Gizmo. They did everything together from camping, fishing, and traveling. Josh graduated from Washington High School in 1996. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and Chicago Cubs fan. Joshua was a member of First Baptist Church Washington, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Bethany Community Church in Washington, IL with Pastors Ben Davidson and Joshua Monda officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:30 am until service time, also on Friday at the church. Burial will be at 2:30 pm in Galesburg Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg, IL, where he will be laid to rest beside his grandparents, Betty and Freeman Shelby.
