John Niemeyer, 72, of Bartonville, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at Carle Health Methodist in Peoria, IL with family by his side. John was born November 28, 1951, in Chicago, IL, and was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lorraine Niemeyer.
John's enduring love story began when he married his soulmate, Roseann Way, on a beautiful autumn day, September 11, 1971. Their remarkable journey of 52 years was filled with shared dreams, laughter, and an unbreakable bond that stood as a beacon of true partnership. Together, they raised a family that became John's pride and joy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Roseann, and their two devoted children, Melissa Niemeyer (Wesley Jackson) of Harvard, IL, and John (Melissa) Niemeyer of Galva, IL. John's legacy continues through his four adored grandchildren, JJ, Deanna, Trenton, and Zachary Niemeyer, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons he imparted. His playful spirit lives on in his fur grandbabies, Dozer and Jainey, who brought him immeasurable joy and companionship.
John's family circle includes his caring brother, Dan (Rose) Niemeyer of New Hampshire, and their two children, Mark and Eric, His life was further enriched by a host of nieces and nephews, with special niece Jackie and nephew T.J., who looked up to him as a role model and mentor and held a unique place in his heart.
Throughout his life, John was known for his unwavering reliability, a trait that endeared him to many. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, yet his spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
He was a member of the UAW and retired from Caterpillar in 2007, after 34 marked years of service. While he did travel when he had to and even enjoyed it, he was happiest at home with his wife, his chair, and his TV shows. As a native Chicagoan, John was a lifelong Bears fan, a trait that has been passed down through the generations, with a few outliers.
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, February 2, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Mason-White Funeral in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association-Central Illinois Chapter. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
