John C. Hicks

John C. Hicks, 90, of Washington passed away peacefully at 2:25am, Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Washington Christian Village. John was born on July 12, 1926 in Model, TN the son of Delbert and Nancy Rogers Hicks. He married Evelyn Amacher on August 18, 1945 in Corinth, MS. she passed away on August 2, 1996 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Surviving are three sons Richard Doug (Elaine) Hicks of Washington, IL; John M. (Gina) Hicks of Long Beach, CA; and Kevin Michael Hicks of Champaign, IL. Also surviving are five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren. John was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in November 1946. He was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Co. from 1949 until his retirement from the Mossville plant in 1987, last working as a supply quality engineer. He was also a Licensed Real Estate Agent working for Brownfield Realty in East Peoria. A past member of Taylor Masonic Lodge 98 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria and Mohammed Temple Shrine. John was of the Baptist Faith Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service is scheduled for 11am, Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Jeff Browning officiating. Visitation will begin at 9am and continue until 11am also at the funeral home. Burial is scheduled with Military honors for Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
