John A. “Jack” Call, 94, of Metamora, IL, passed away at Snyder Village Nursing Home on Friday, February 13, 2026 in the excellent care of Snyder Village staff and Vitas Hospice staff.
He was born on February 11, 1932, in Evanston, IL, to John M. and Violet (Ehrhardt) Call. In 1936 the family moved to Partridge Township, IL where he attended Richland Grade School and Germantown Grade School, graduating in 1945. He graduated from Metamora Township High School in 1949 and Bradley University in 1957 and served in the Army in Trieste, Italy during the Korean Conflict, discharged in 1955 as a CPL.
John’s career in human resource management was spent with Firestone/Bridgestone Companies in Aberdeen, SD, Orange, TX, Liberia, Africa (1963-1968), Akron, OH, Bonsaso, Ghana, Africa (1969-1974) and finishing his 34 year career in Bloomington, IL, retiring in 1996.
John moved to Snyder Village in Metamora in October, 2005 where he lived independently until he entered the nursing home in 2023.
He traveled extensively and enjoyed reunions with Firestone/Bridgestone friends with whom he worked in Liberia and Ghana and loved Metamora High School sports, attending all football and basketball games with his notorious “redbird cap”. Also, a loyal fan of Bradley basketball following the team wherever they were playing. He loved his activities and community of friends at Snyder Village, landscaping and maintaining plants and flowers in a courtyard off a dining area and keeping close contact with his many cousins and relatives. John was a good and loyal friend to many.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carlyn Call Blameuser of Winamac, IN. His survivors are two nephews, Frank and Bernard Blameuser and two nieces, Connie Smith and Cathie Werich of Winamac, IN.
Cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held. Burial of Ashes will be in the family plot in Lacon Cemetery in Lacon, IL.
