Joanne Mary Scrivner, 91, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 10:27 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.
She was born on September 23, 1934, in Peoria, IL, to Joseph R. and Mary A. (Thiel) Welte. She married Donald E. Scrivner on April 24, 1954, in Metamora, IL. He passed away on September 24, 2009.
Surviving are her children, Donald (Diane) Scrivner of Elrod, Alabama, Donna Kline of Washburn, IL, and Sharon (James) Miller of Toluca, IL; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Ruth) Welte of Princeton, IL; and sister, Mary Jo Grebner of Germantown Hills, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law, Larry Kline, sister, Kathy Welte, brothers, Bill Welte and Jim Welte, and brother-in-law, William Grebner.
Joanne had been co-owner at Elite Furniture Restoration. She enjoyed working at her father’s store, Welte’s Friendly Spot, in town, and in clerical at Sears for ten years. Joanne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora and their Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Women’s Apostolic, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed making crafts, traveling, supporting family, and caring for loved ones. She was active with the Snyder Village auctions, the Snyder Village Kitchen Band and choir, and St. Mary’s choir. She never met a stranger! Her family was paramount to her and her faith was very important to her as well. Her great-granddaughter, Ruby, was born on the day of her passing.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 on Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until mass time. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Snyder Village Residents-in-Need Fund, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 415 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548.
