Joan Fahnestock

Joan M. Fahnestock, 83, passed away peacefully at 2:55pm Saturday, October 29, 2016 at her residence. She was born August 4, 1933 in Peoria, daughter of the late Henry and Linnea Peterson Tiarks. She married Lionel J. Fahnestock in Peoria on December 24, 1952. He passed away on July 9, 1995. Also preceding her in death was one sister Harriett DeWeerth. Survivors include one son Jeff Fahnestock of Peoria and one daughter Sue Fahnestock of Mapleton. Further surviving are six grandchildren; Ryan, Justin, Antonio, Suzanne, Kristina and Kyler along with 8 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly along with one sister Doris Burgin of Peoria. Joan was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a graduate of Manual High School. Joan worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. and later worked for OSF ST. Francis Medical Center and retired after many years in the Neurosurgery Department. She attended Riverside Community Church in Peoria and Faith Church in Washington. She was active in many organizations until having until suffering a stroke three years ago. She was truly an angel on earth and will be residing in heaven for all eternity. Cremation rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
