Jessie E. "Dunker" Morgan Jr, 66, of Washington, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the home of his son Jessie III, surrounded by his family. Jessie was born on December 6, 1957, in Peoria, IL, the son of Raymond Calvert and Irene Manker Morgan. He married Susan Wallace and later married Susan Lukehart.
His children Jessica (Benjamin) Dennis-Lofink of Pontoon Beach, IL; Jessie (Rachel Taylor) Morgan III and Jarod Morgan, both of Washington, are surviving. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Jessie, Audrey, Avery, Jaxson, Jarett, Jayden, and Dakota. Also surviving is one great-granddaughter, Videll. Further surviving are three brothers, Claudie "Dean" (Janice) Morgan of Bellevue, IL; Johnnie (Cathy) Morgan of Missouri; and Donnie Calvert of Peoria. Four brothers, Thomas Thompson, Ronnie Morgan, Larry Morgan, and Jack Morgan, and one sister, Jill Brooks, all preceded him in death.
Known for his unwavering support of the Minnesota Vikings, Jessie's passion for football was matched only by his love for the blues, with "Heaven" by Los Lonely Boys holding a special place in his heart. He was a man who lived his life with the volume turned up, his days echoing with the sounds of his favorite genre of music.
Jessie's interests extended beyond the stadium's roar and the guitar's soulful strum. He was an avid fisherman and camper, finding solace in the tranquility of nature. His happiest moments were often spent at Deer Camp or unwinding with friends at Dan's Towbar, where his presence was camaraderie and good cheer. Jessie's collection of Minnesota Vikings, Dale Earnhardt, and Budweiser memorabilia was a testament to his dedication and joy in the things he loved.
His journey through life was a testament to his strength and resilience. Jessie had the remarkable ability to turn his life around, fighting hard to win each battle he faced. His story was one of redemption and determination, inspiring those who knew him to believe in the power of change.
Jessie was quickly liked by all who crossed his path, and his loving nature, funny anecdotes, and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression. He was a man who could light up a room with his humor and warmth, making every encounter with him a moment to be cherished.
Jessie's life was lived with enthusiasm and love. His legacy is one of laughter, friendship, and the enduring spirit of a man who embraced life's adventures. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to those fortunate enough to know him.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be from Noon until 1:45 pm on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 pm also at the funeral home. A celebration of life will follow his service at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Peoria, 1704 South East Lane, in Peoria, beginning at 3 pm.
