EUREKA - Jerry Lee Goggil, 68, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center emergency room in Peoria. Jerry was born May 16, 1948, in Peoria, Illinois, to Walter Leo Goggil, Sr. and Elinor Shirley Byard. He married Shirley Miller on February 5, 1967; and, later married Patricia Suits on January 31, 1975. He married Faye M. Ludden on April 1, 1992 and she survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Tina (Allen) Mosher and Angela (Gary) Taylor; his step-daughters, Vanessa (Kevin) Mogler and Veronica (Max) Saladino; his brothers Michael (Valerie) Goggil, Kevin (Colleen) Goggil, Eric "Rick" (Ann) Goggil and his sister, Kathryn (Rick) Johnson. Further surviving Jerry are several grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. His parents and his brother, Walter Leo "Pigeon" Goggil Jr. preceded him in death. Jerry graduated from Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1973. Jerry served our country overseas in Korea as well as the in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Sharpshooter (Rifle). He was very proud of his service to our country. Jerry participated in a Sunday night bowling league for many years as well as played in a co-ed softball league during his younger years. Jerry also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had respect and a love for animals and the outdoors. Jerry was a hard worker and held many different jobs as a welder. Jerry's favorite past time was relaxing on his deck with his dogs by his side. Jerry had a desire to help others and chose to be an organ donor. He was able to help others through the Gift of Hope by this choice. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service is scheduled for 6:00PM Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. A time to celebrate his life will follow his service until 8:00PM also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a local animal shelter of choice, Gift of Hope or Alcoholics Anonymous.
