WASHINGTON...Jean J. Phillips, 82, of Washington, ascended to glory at 9:20 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria with her family at her side. Jean was born on July 26, 1929 in Chicago to Frank and Christine Webber Paterik. She married Wesley Phillips in Rockford on May 9, 1953. He preceded her in death. Among those surviving are three sons, Terry (Jan) Phillips of Washington, Tom (Lisa) Phillips of Mongolia and Ted (Renee) Phillips of Metamora; two brothers, Frank (Pat) Paterik and Ron (Dodie) Paterik, both of Prescott Valley, Arizona; one sister, Bonnie (Gene) Covell of Prescott, Arizona; one brother-in-law, Richard Reynolds of Rockford; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Edith Reynolds. Jean had taught piano for more than 30 years to students in the Washington, Lacon, Waterman areas in Illinois as well as in Wisconsin. She was active in Free Grace Church in Washington. Jean?s greatest joys were the Lord, Jesus Christ, her family and her brothers and sisters in Christ. A celebration of Jean?s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 30 at Grace Bible Church in Washington with Pastor Ted Phillips and Pastor Terry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home. Memorials for Jean may be directed to Free Grace Church to support the various mission projects that were dear to her.
