Jean Elizabeth (Barth) Cremeens

Jean Elizabeth (Barth) Cremeens, a beloved wife, mother, granny, great-granny, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at 6:26pm on Saturday, June 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Fittingly, she passed on her father's birthday, a meaningful reunion for a daughter who cherished her family throughout her life.

Jean was born in Peoria, Illinois, on March 1, 1944, to John Edward Barth and Emma Marie (Moritz) Barth, who preceded her in death. She was raised on the family farm near Flanagan, Illinois, where she developed the strong work ethic, kindness, and values that would guide her throughout her life. Jean graduated from Flanagan High School in 1962 and later attended Midstate College and Bradley University.

On April 25th, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, Donald J. Cremeens. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 61 years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering love.

Jean enjoyed a successful career spanning more than fifty years, serving in several office management and human resources positions. In 1972, she and Don made their home in Germantown Hills, where they became active members of the community and of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, a church that had been a part of their family for generations.

Family was the center of Jean's world. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald J. Cremeens; her daughter, Dawn (Michael) Brockhouse; her brother, Jay (Lois) Barth; and her cherished grandchildren: Jordyn (Brent) Lewandowski, Morgan (Adam) Cox, Emmie Brockhouse (Jacob Smith), Reid Brockhouse (Erynn Kell), and Briar Cremeens (Maggie Jewell). She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Andalyn, Kaden, and Callan Lewandowski.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Cremeens.

Jean is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Jeff Barth, Michelle Knight, Donna Roberts, and Juli Dunlap, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her generosity and love.

To know Jean was to know kindness. She would gladly give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, opening her home and her heart to anyone who needed a place to belong, especially during the holidays; Jean made our world more beautiful with her elegant grace and attention to refined details. She was the ultimate hostess, making every gathering feel warm and welcoming.

Jean was famous among family and friends for her baking, particularly her pies and desserts. Family members often joked about competing for the last piece, and her desserts became treasured traditions at family celebrations. She lovingly prepared desserts for both Jordyn's and Morgan's weddings, adding her special touch to some of the family's most cherished memories.

She had a wonderful sense of style and never left the house without looking her best, complete with her makeup, jewelry, and signature elegance. She loved shopping trips with her daughter and granddaughters, quiet mornings with a cup of coffee, and filling her home with treasured keepsakes, each carrying a story she could happily share.

Jean also had a special love for animals, especially her dogs, Pepper and Bodie. Pepper, Mark's beloved German Shorthaired Pointer, became a treasured member of Jean and Don's family after Mark's passing. Bodie, her rescued toy poodle mix, rarely left her side and remained faithfully with her until her final moments.

Butterflies brought Jean great joy, and her yard was often filled with them. Her family now finds comfort whenever a butterfly appears, serving as a beautiful reminder of her presence and enduring love.

Above all, Jean's greatest gift was the unconditional love she gave to her family. Her favorite words, "Love you most" and "Follow your dreams," will continue to guide those she leaves behind.

Though her family will miss her deeply, they find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, generosity, faith, and family will live on through the many lives she touched.
