Janice "Jan" M. Turner

Janice M. "Jan" Turner, 77, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 2:23 pm on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was born on June 3, 1943, in Peoria, IL, to Arthur E. and Mildred J. (Schneider) Gangloff. She married Dennis A. "Denny" Turner on September 21, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora. He passed away on July 5, 2018.

Surviving are her son, Craig (Andrea) Turner of Dunlap, IL; daughter, Gretchen (John) Evans of Metamora; granddaughters, McKenna and Addison Turner and Sophia and Alyssa Evans; and siblings, Jo Welte and Jim (Sue) Gangloff both of Metamora, and Tom Gangloff of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Bill Welte.

Jan was the beautician who owned Ye Old Beauty Shoppe in Metamora for over 50 years. Her occupation was a source of livelihood that grew into a circle of friends and extended family. She was blessed with a creative nature that was evident in everything she touched. Jan enjoyed spending most of her time with family and friends. She loved teaching her four granddaughters about gardening, cooking, sewing, crafting, and finding passion in what you love. Jan was a woman of strong faith and will. She in-turn instilled those beliefs in her children and grandchildren. Her drive and work ethic were second to none, always leading by example. The size and strength of her spirit far surpassed that of her body.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 26, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Vien Van Do officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until time of mass on Monday at the church. A Celebration of Life will follow the memorial mass at her home.
