James Emerson Tweddale, 98, of Clearwater, Florida died April 17, 2014 at Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Florida. He was born May 22, 1915 on his parents farm in Washburn, Illinois, the son of James Thomas and Nell (Hawk) Tweddale. He was a graduate of the class of 1933 from Washburn High School, Washburn, Illinois. He also attended Browns Business College in Peoria, Illinois. He later served on the school board of Lowpoint Township High School. He was a member of University Methodist Church, Peoria, Illinois. James Emerson was engaged in farming all his adult life and retired from that adventure in 1981. It was about that time that he began wintering in Florida and soon became convinced he would retire to Florida as a fulltime "Snow Bird". He located at Country Park mobile home park and became interested in a variety of recreational and entertainment activities. His active interest in those activities caused him to enter the Park?s political arena and he served a term as President of the Activities Board. During those years he traveled throughout the Southeast, California and New England. James (Emerson) is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Winston) Fairfield of Brockton, MA, son, James D. (Diana) Tweddale of Alameda, CA and foster son, Russell (Joyce) Pifer of Largo, Florida along with three grandchildren; Craig Fairfield, Kelly (John) Leonard and Kimberly (Chuck) Kelley. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, one nephew, one niece and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna Williams and a niece. Private graveside services and interment will be held at Linn-Mt. Vernon Cemetery, rural Washburn, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Suncoast Hospice Care Center, 6770 102nd Avenue North, Pinellas Park, Florida 33782 Mason Funeral Home, 219 E. Partridge St., Metamora, Illinois, 61548 is in charge of funeral arrangements.
