James Thomas Shuda, 74, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 12:58 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at his residence.
James was born on August 20, 1950, in Peoria, IL, son of Anthony C. Shuda, Jr. and Dorothy Barnett Shuda. He married Betty Call on June 6, 1970 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Shuda of Metamora; daughter, Angela Street of East Peoria, IL; sons, James A. Shuda and Aron Shuda (Jamie Jackson) both of Metamora; grandchildren, Samantha Tomblin (Eric) of Dunlap, IL, Madysen Street (Josh Chambers) of Chillicothe, IL, Adelin Shuda, Kyler Shuda, Dalton Shuda, and Hunter of Shuda all of Metamora; great-grandchildren, Buddy Tomblin and Forest Tomblin both of Dunlap, IL; step-grandson, Brogan West and Kayla (Dennison) West with step-great-grandchildren Xander West and baby MaeMae on the way and step-grandson John Street, Jr. of Peoria, IL.
Surviving siblings are Stephen A. Shuda of Daytona Beach, FL and Lawrence R. Shuda of Cocoa, FL. James is also survived by two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Mandy Shuda, and an aunt, Irene Briddle, who was like a second mother to James and his brothers.
James worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 30 years, retiring in 2003 from the Mossville Technical Center. He loved watching youth sports and at one time, running the Metamora Youth Sports Association and introducing the 5th grade basketball tournament to the program. He always loved football season and cheering on the Metamora Redbirds.
Per James' wishes, there will be no service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of Ashes will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.
