Jack Dean Slater

Jack Dean Slater, 79, of Eureka, IL, passed away at 5:50 am on Friday, December 4, 2020, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.

He was born on August 17, 1941, in Peoria, IL, to Joseph and Lola A. (Schabatka) Slater. He married Gloria Jean Ter Maat on October 1, 1966, in Creve Coeur, IL.

Surviving are his wife Gloria Jean of Eureka; daughter Amber L. (Charlie) Harmon of Eureka; grandsons, Joseph and Jack Harmon; and his dog, Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph E. Slater.

Jack graduated from East Peoria High School in 1959 and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from the Caterpillar Tractor Company Purchasing Department in 1999. Jack was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed camping, fishing, and golf. He was a member of Eureka Christian Church.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
