Irene (Booth) Mullineaux, 99, of Washington, IL passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Carle Health Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

She was born on April 8, 1926, in Slater, MO, the daughter of Harry and Erie (Bobo) Booth. She married Jack S. Mullineaux on May 11, 1947, in Slater, MO. Her husband, Jack, and one daughter, Ruth Schmillen, preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Mullineaux of Creve Coeur, IL, and Jackie Lambert and her husband Randy of Fruitland Park, FL, one grandson, Peter Schmillen and his wife Amy, and one granddaughter, Rebecca Schmillen.

Irene worked as a telecommunications operator at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria for 25 ½ years, retiring in 1988. After retirement she volunteered at the Washington District Library for 29 years. She passionately supported World Vision, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Disabled American Veterans, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need.

Her passion for cooking, sewing, and crafting baby clothes for the Washington community truly shone through, leaving a heartfelt impact on everyone around her.

She cherished the moments spent with her loving family, dear friends, her wonderful coworkers at the library, and the vibrant members of the Red Hat Club.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. There will be no visitation. In Irene's memory, memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled American Veterans.
