Hugh Patterson

Hugh A. Patterson, 91, of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Snyder Village in Metamora, Illinois.

He was born on October 16, 1934, in Henderson, Tennessee, the son of Osceola and Effie Garner Patterson. He married Betty Fisher Williams on March 9, 1974, in Washington.

Surviving are his wife, Betty, two stepsons, Brad (Deb) Williams and Bruce Williams, both of Washington, and one stepdaughter, Karla Turner of Pekin, Illinois; two step-grandsons, Caleb Williams of Washington and Dirk (Ali) McCoy of Pekin; three step-great-grandchildren, Roger, Joslyn, and Jordyn. He is further survived by two sisters, Lila Thomas of East Peoria, Illinois, and Nancy Durrance of Selmer, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Rubin Patterson, Osceola Patterson Jr., Wallace Patterson, J.W. Patterson, Tom Patterson, and two sisters, Leon Kernodle and Blonnie Keathley.

Hugh worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1995 as a security officer. He has been a member of Washington Christian Church since 1991.

He loved traveling in his motor coach, relaxing in Florida, enjoying a round of golf with friends, fishing, hunting, and cherishing moments with his family across Illinois, Indiana, and Tennessee.

A funeral service is scheduled for 12 noon on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be from 11 am until his service time. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Washington Christian Church.
