Herbert John Kiesewetter

Herbert John Kiesewetter, 91, of East Peoria, IL, passed away at 2:17 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka in Eureka, IL.

Herb was born on July 16, 1930, in Metamora, IL, to Frank and Catherine (Adams) Kiesewetter.  He married Phyllis M. Schiffbauer on August 29, 1959 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Metamora, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis of East Peoria; children, Vickie (Larry) Sochocki, Cathie Pezanoski, Joe (Kim) Kiesewetter, Pattie (Dave) Dennis, Michelle (Terry) Pezanoski, and Michael (Ellen) Kiesewetter; grandchildren, Trevor, Connor, Alex, Brad, Brent, Brandon, Jeremy, Lindsay, Colin, Nathan, Brock, Reed, and Katarina; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Markiewicz, Luella Shawhan, and Marge Mason; and brother, Art Kiesewetter.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold and Franklin, sisters Lorena Gangloff and Alivina Jenn, and two grandchildren Cyle and Lorraine.

Herb was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He worked as a brick mason for Richard Nauman Masonary and William Bros for 50 years.  He was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora.  Herb enjoyed gardening, sports, and watching his grandchildren's events.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating.  Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 with visitation following from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel.  Burial will be in St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 89.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, 424 Lourdes Church Road, Metamora, IL 61548.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
