Henry McCann, 85, joined his loved ones in Heaven on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Born May 12, 1940, in Peoria, Illinois, to Francis and Virginia (Mammen) McCann. Henry grew up with a love for family, hard work, and all things mechanical.
He married the love of his life, Marilyn Andell, on December 27, 1958, at St. Patrick's Church, marking the beginning of a 66-year journey filled with love, laughter, and family. Together, they raised four children: Keith (Farrah) McCann, Kathy (Keith) Mortimer (preceded him in death), Kim (Scott Rofkahr) Birchler, and Kirk (Stephanie) McCann.
Henry was a proud grandfather to Jessica (David) Spicer, Dylan (Brook) McCann, Briana (Tayrell) Todd, Spencer (Victoria) McCann, Henry McCann, and Catherine McCann. He was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, who brought him endless joy.
He is also survived by his brother, Mike (Lynn) McCann. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jim McCann, Marilyn (Harold) Sieg, Nancy (Ron) Rager, and Pat (Dawn) McCann.
For over 40 years, Henry worked at Fleming & Potter, where his dedication and work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues and friends. Even in Europe, where he traveled often for work. Outside of work, he loved tinkering and restoring — whether it was working on his beloved Jaguars, collecting watches and clocks, or giving new life to antique furniture for their business H&M Antiques at the 3rd Sunday Markets. He also had a passion for playing golf, being outdoors fishing and radio communications and even earned his amateur radio operator's license, and his call sign was KB9GVB. He was a man of many talents.
He was also a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and nothing brought him more pride than his long-haired chihuahua, Lil Bit, who was truly his constant companion.
Above all, Henry will be remembered as a selfless man who was always there when needed, the steady rock his family could always count on. His legacy is one of love, generosity, and devotion to those he cared about most.
