March 25, 1939 — October 23, 2017

Henry R "Sonny" Bennett of East Peoria, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at his home.

He was born March 25, 1939 in Peoria to James and Kathrine Dew Bennett, he married Margaret Bennett May 6, 1972 and she survives. Henry worked 10 years at Western Union before retiring from Komatsu after 35 years of service as a printer. He enjoyed playing with his three furry grandchildren Casper, Buddy and Bella.

He was raised with a love of dirt track stock car racing with his step-father Al Dew, where he helped him work on the stock cars. He loved going and watching the ARCA races with his son Tony every year in Springfield. He was also the ambassador, with his wife Margaret, of the Peoria Old-timer's Racing Club.

He also loved to try to out fish his daughter Stacie which was a huge task, but he never gave up. Henry never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all.
