Helen Jean Ahrens

Helen Jean Ahrens, 83, a current resident of Leisure Acres Retirement Community in Washington and formerly of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021, at 12:20 pm at Lakeside Rehab & Healthcare, in East Peoria.

In Metamora, IL, she was born on July 15, 1937, at home to Arnold R. and Evelyn F. (Himmel) Ahrens.

Surviving are sisters-in-law June Ahrens of Metamora and Norma Lee Ahrens of Eureka, many nieces and nephews, and special caregiver Sharon Gruber.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Willard and Kenneth Ahrens, sister Marlene Ahrens, stepmother Florence Ahrens, and two step-sisters Alice Schierer and Shirley Adams.

Helen had worked in child care for 30 years. She was a longtime member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Washington.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Oakwood Cemetery, Metamora, with nephew-in-law Rev. Bob DeBolt officiating. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with arrangements. To share condolences with her family, visit www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
