WASHINGTON…Harold S. Wurster, 95, formerly of Washington, passed away peacefully at 2:30 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2015 at Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth, Illinois. Harold was born on December 6, 1919 in Tazewell County to George and Elmira (Spangler) Wurster. He married Eileen Diver in North Hampton, Illinois on March 22, 1951. Eileen died on August 6, 2006 in Peoria. Among those surviving are two daughters, Jeanette (Robert) Hexamer of Galena and Joyce (Edward) Keller of Kernersville, N.C.; four loving grandchildren, David, Marie, Jason and Scott; eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a great grandson, four brothers and one sister. Harold was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in the India-Burma-Chinese Theatre. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #100 in Washington. He had retired from LeTourneau in Peoria where he had worked as a brake operator for many years. Harold also had been very active in the Hopewell Grange and maintained the Grange property for many years. Graveside services for Harold will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2015 at Glendale Cemetery in Washington with Pastor Mike McCoskey officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the U.S. Army. Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed for Harold to the Hopewell Grange.
