Harold Burton Redenius, 89, of East Peoria, IL, passed away at 10:00 pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke in Roanoke, IL.
He was born on December 3, 1934, in Pattonsburg, IL, to Carl W. and Emma A. (Harber) Redenius. He married Rita Ann Marchand on August 10, 1957 in Metamora, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Rita of East Peoria, IL; son, David (Paula) Redenius of Sherman, IL; daughter, Peggy (John) Bockler of Metamora, IL; grandchildren, Jason Bockler, Adam (Emily) Bockler, Rachel (Nick) Howald, and Ryan (Xin Xin) Redenius; great-grandchildren, Asher Redenius, Madeline Howald, Norah Howald, and Kaylie Coltrin; and sister, Esther (Richard) Zaring of East Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Delmar Redenius.
Harold was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked at Keystone Steel & Wire as part of the engine crew for 24 years and then as a mechanic for the State of Illinois for 16 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora, enjoyed yard work, working on cars, and traveling to Florida. He was a Cubs fan. Harold also worked part-time at Snyder Village.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Metamora with Father David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until mass time, also on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary's Church, 415 West Chatham Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to Sophie's Kitchen, c/o Sacred Heart Church, 504 Fulton Street, Peoria, IL 61602.
