Harold L. Prather

METAMORA-Harold Leon Prather, 75, of Metamora, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at his home.

He was born in Chicago, IL on November 10, 1942, a son of Lucian Harold and Mildred J Savidge Prather Weisbecker.  He married Juanita Grove on May 15, 1965, in Bartonville IL.  She survives.

Also surviving are four children, David (Denice) Prather of Germantown Hills, Stephen (Tammy) Prather of Washburn, Laurie (Ken) Kampman of O'Fallon MO, and Christopher (Miranda) Prather of Germantown Hills; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Marlisa) Prather of Manito.  One brother, Richard Prather, preceded him in death.

He served in the US Navy as a submarine nuclear propulsion plant operator for eight years, aboard the USS Daniel Boone, USS Mariano G Vallejo, and the USS Puget Sound.  Following his service, Harold was employed by Caterpillar as a skilled trade machinist for thirty years before retiring in 2003.

Harold had a lifelong desire to continue learning. He was an avid reader, showed talent in photography and woodworking, played the bass clarinet, and enjoyed his home in the country where he had a variety of animals.  He loved his family.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A memorial visitation will be Thursday, June 21, 2018, from 10:00am until 11:00am with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am all at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. His grandson Pastor Joshua Prather will officiate. Burial will follow his service at Glendale Cemetery in Washington with Military Honors.
