Harold Curtis Leroy

Harold Curtis LeRoy, 95, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 10:59 pm on Friday, September 29, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on September 17, 1928, in Peoria, IL, to Herbert A. and Dorothy E. (Lottman) LeRoy. He married Carol K. Keys on April 29, 1950 in Peoria, IL. She passed away on April 14, 2019.

Surviving are his three children, Lori (Ray) Wyssmann of Oklahoma City, OK, Lisa (Gordon) Karmenzind of Peoria, IL, and Curtis (Ninette) LeRoy of Peoria, IL; his three grandsons whom he adored, Jackson Wyssmann, Christian LeRoy, and Carter LeRoy; and his beloved great-grandson, Leeland LeRoy. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers.

Harold was always extremely proud of having served his country as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne during the Occupation Force in Japan from January 1947 to December 1949. Harold retired from the US Postal Service after 23 years, having made many lifelong friends. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bartonville, the American Legion in Benson, IL, NALC, Cursillo, and NARFE.

Harold was an avid fisherman, traveling with family and friends to Minnesota every year. He was also an avid golfer, playing into his 80's, and loved boasting about his hole-in-one.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in the chapel at Resurrection Cemetery and Mausoleum in Peoria with Father Charles Klamut officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of his service, also on Tuesday at the chapel. Burial of Ashes will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
