Harold E. Aberle, 90, of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at his residence.

Harold was born on January 20. 1936, in Washington, the son of Harold W and Margaret I. Rich Aberle. He married Joyce Foreman on July 15, 1956. She passed away on January 29, 2023. He was also preceded in death by an infant grandson, a son-in-law, Brian Moore, and a sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Jim Burton.

He is survived by his children: daughter Terri Moore from Washington, and son Bradley and Lisa Aberle from Hopedale, Illinois. He's also cherished by grandchildren Alicia Potter, Dustin Aberle, Shelby, and Matt Martin, Torie and Tyler Ferguson; two great-grandchildren, Tinley Ferguson and Tanner Ferguson.

He served his country with the Army Air National Guard. He dedicated 36 ½ years to CILCO, retiring as a crew leader in 1994. After retiring, he found joy in volunteering at Proctor Hospital for an inspiring 22 years. He was also a cherished member of Bayview Baptist Church in Washington, where he loved singing in the church choir. He and his wife Joyce spent many winters at their home in Bonita Springs, Florida. He loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening, hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. A graveside service is scheduled for 10 am on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Pastor Keith Thibo will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington will handle the cremation arrangements.
