October 6, 1946 — July 1, 2022

Gretchen Marie (Fagerberg), Turvill of Washington, IL, passed away Thursday, June 30th, 2022, at Carle Eureka Hospital in Eureka, IL. Gretchen was born in Lindsborg, Kansas, to Laurin and Doris Fagerberg on October 6th, 1946.

She married Leonard Turvill, Jr. on October 27th, 1978. He survives. Also, surviving are her sister, Jeannine Redden of Acworth, GA; her son Bryon (Denine) Cade of Menasha, WI; her daughter, Megan (Chris) Gallaway of Greensburg, IN, one grandchild, Amber Gallaway and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gretchen graduated from Bethany College with a Bachelor's Degree in English in 1968. She then graduated from Emporia State University with a master's degree in Library Science in 1970.

She worked as a librarian at Triton Community College, Western Illinois University, and later, at Illinois Central College, where she retired in 2014. She also worked for many years with her husband at their store, The White Elephant.

Gretchen enjoyed the outdoors, camping, traveling, reading, cataloging her extensive library, and spending time with family. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears. She was a kindhearted woman who accepted people for who they were and will be sorely missed.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Planned Parenthood in Gretchen's name.
