Gladys May Doering

Gladys May Stephens Doering, 86, of Metamora, IL, formally of Chillicothe and Peoria, IL passed away at 4:38 am on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Snyder Village, Metamora. She was born on July 23, 1929 in Kickapoo, IL to Catherine Miller Stephens. She married Eugene Benjamin Doering on September 3, 1949 in Peoria, IL. They just celebrated 65 years of a loving and wonderful marriage before Eugene passed away on September 21, 2014. Surviving are her five children Thomas (Darla) Doering of Chillicothe, Michael Doering of Bartonville, Ronald Doering of Washington, Deborah (Donald) Wilson of Peoria and Robert (Mary Jo) Doering of East Peoria; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Harold (Beverly) Doering of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen (Kim) Davis, daughter-in-law Kathleen (Ronald) Doering, sister Mary (James) Kratochvil, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Patricia Doering. Gladys loved to read, cook, fish, cruises with her husband and especialy spending time with her family and friends whom she loved very much. The family would like to thank Snyder Village for the excellent care mom received. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kickapoo with Father Joe Dondanville officiating. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the mass at the church. Burial of ashes will be held afterwards in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Kickapoo.
