Gilbert C. Craig

Gilbert C. Craig age 88 of Spring Bay, Illinois passed away peacefully at 2:30pm Sunday Jan. 29, 2012 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born Sept. 21, 1923 in Alto Pass, IL. the son of Clovis and Clara (Toler) Craig. He married Venita P. Hartsock on May 17, 1943 in Jackson, MO. She survives. Also surviving are 2 children Sam (Vicki) Craig of Spring Bay, and Paula (Dave Hale) Craig of Germantown Hills. Three beloved grandsons Chad (Wendy) Craig of Dunlap, Matt (Kendra) Craig of Washington, Mark (Laura Compton) Craig of W. Lafayette, IN. and 5 precious great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Carolin Sue Craig and 3 brothers. Gilbert retired from the Caterpillar Foundry in 1978. Proud member of UAW #974 where he served as committeeman and Chief Steward. Member of Harvard Hills Baptist Church in Washington, IL. He was a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Gilbert will be missed by many. A memorial service will be at 1:00pm Wednesday Feb. 1, 2012 at Harvard Hills Baptist Church in Washington with Pastors Lloyd Moss and Ken Klein officiating.
