WASHINGTON?Gertrude E. Bradle, 81, went to join her husband, John, at 7:18 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2013 at her home in Washington. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on September 15, 1931 in Germany. Gertrude married John I. Bradle in Heilbronn, Germany on October 16, 1954. Gertrude was raised in Germany and had spent time in a German concentration camp during World War II. Following the war, she had worked as a reporter for a German newspaper prior to coming to the United States. She had dual citizenship for both United States and Germany and was part of a family where she had three sisters and four brothers, all remaining in Europe. Surviving is her son, Manfred Bradle of Washington and many dear friends. Gertrude had been a homemaker taking care of her husband and son, and also did work for several Washington households over the years. She loved to walk and would be seen walking to places all over town. She kept very active until just the past few weeks, just this past winter she would be out shoveling snow and had mowed the lawn just weeks ago. Gertrude had attended the former Redeemer Missionary Church in Washington. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and a half hour prior to services on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society.
