Gerald R. Schierer

Gerald R. Schierer, 72, of Metamora, IL passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 4:20 am at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on February 10, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Raymond and Lois (Hudson) Schierer. He married Bonnie J. Miltenberger on October 18, 1969 in Metamora. She survives. Also surviving are children James Schierer of Florida, Scott (Hayley Zimmerman) Schierer of East Peoria, Chuck (Tiffany Ritchie) Schierer of Peoria, and Jessica (Michael) Hood of Corning, NY; grandchildren Tyler J., Rigby, Bennett, Audrey and Vianna; his 95 year old mother Lois of East Peoria; and siblings James Schierer of Peoria, and Carol (Dean) Held of Morton. He was preceded in death by his father. Gerald was a U.S. Army Private First Class Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was an electrician last working for Oberlander and was a 42 year member of the IBEW Local #34. Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, rural Metamora with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating. Family will meet friends and family at the luncheon in Stokes Hall following the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery.
