Gerald E. Lyons

Gerald "Jerry" E. Lyons, 88, of Metamora passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2014. He was born on March 23, 1926 in Peoria to Elmer and Mildred (Murath) Lyons. He married Phillis Kutkat and then later married Nancy DeLaval. Both preceded him in death. Also preceded in death are daughter Jerrilee Lyons and son Randee Lyons. Surviving are his daughter Carol Mattson of Mulkeytown, IL and cousin Burke Dehority of Ohio. Jerry graduated from Manual High School. He spent his early years in Peoria and Minnesota where he worked as a hunting and fishing guide. He worked for the Peoria Housing Authority and owned several laundromats. He retired at 86 when he sold his last Laundromat in Metamora. Jerry was an avid fisherman, a member of the Metamora McDonald?s Club and loved the music, dancing and friendships at the American Legion Dances. His lively personality will be missed by many. Memorial service will be at 12:30 pm on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with Reverend Gary Salm officiating and visitation held one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded with burial of ashes at Lutheran Cemetery, Peoria at a later date.
