Georgianna Cyrilla (Grebner) Kiefner

Georgianna Cyrilla Kiefner, 91, of Metamora, IL, passed away in hospice at Lacon Rehab and Nursing on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 8:59 am.

She was born on Saturday, September 27, 1930, in Worth Township, IL, to Rudolph C. and Anna Rosina (Fandel) Grebner. The last of a family of twelve, she is preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, Wilbert (Agatha), Florentius (Roberta), Reinhart (LaVerne and Billie), Lowell (Josephine and Delores), Rudolph (Bonita), Theorette, in infancy, Francis, and Ernest, three sisters, Bernadine (William Jr.) Kern, Virginia (Melvin) Sharick, and Gloria (Ken Sr.) Crank, daughter-in-law, Mary Kiefner; one niece, Judy, and four nephews, Andy, Allen, John, and Jim.

Georgianna married Syril Ray Kiefner on June 10, 1950. He preceded her on March 16, 2012. In their early marriage, they moved to Worthington, IN where their daughter, Carol, was born. In 1953, they returned to rural Metamora and five sons and another daughter joined the family.

She enjoyed letter writing, cooking, baking, quilting, sewing, and trips to Amish country. Summers were spent gardening, picking and selling strawberries and black raspberries, and canning and making jams and many pickles. She was known as the "Berry Lady" and the "Pickle Lady" having donated quarts of dill pickles for funeral dinners. Georgianna cleaned at Commerce Bank with Carol, for 30 years, retiring at the age of 80. She also cleaned at WCSEA for many years. Georgianna was a life-long member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora.

Georgianna is survived by seven children, Carol Malcome, Larry, Jerry (Joni), Randy, and Ron, all of the Metamora area, Connie (Terry) Pruvost of Washington, and Scott of Toulon; eleven grandchildren, Shari Malcome, Jason Kiefner, Jessica Young, Paul Kiefner, Jeri (Jared) Alig, Cori Kiefner, Reece (Stephanie) Kiefner, Blake (Kerry) Kiefner, Brittany Kiefner, Garrett (Amanda) Davis, and Delaney Davis; four great-grandchildren, Alonzo Kiefner, Cole Kiefner, Avery and Drake Alig, and another great-granddaughter due in May; two sisters-in-law, Clara Grebner of Washburn and Barb Grebner of Wyanet; dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends and neighbors.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 pm with visitation to follow from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery. A dinner will follow at the parish center.
