George Johnson

George Richard Johnson, 69, of Washington, IL passed away on August 9, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on June 22, 1955, in Peoria the son of the late Reavis and Audrey Pfeiffer Johnson.  He married Elizabeth DuPage.  She passed away on January 31, 2020.

Surviving are his children Joshua (Trisha) Johnson of Washington, Michelle (Brad) Campbell of Marinette, WI, Amanda (Milos) Babic of South Elgin, IL, Rachel (Adam) Dew of Bloomington, IL. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren: two brothers David (Darlene) Johnson of Arlington, TX, and Mike (Carol) Johnson of East Peoria and one sister Teri Johnson Creve Coeur, IL.

George attended Bethany Community Church in Washington. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 30 years.  George's retirement years were rich with the joy of casting lines into tranquil waters and the warmth of caring for his family, which he considered his greatest catch.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A memorial service is scheduled for 4 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Bethany Community Church.  A visitation will be one-hour prior to his service also at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to PATH at https://www.pathcrisis.org/ His family invites you to share your favorite stories and memories of George and honor his memory by visiting www.masonfuneralhomes.com .
