WASHINGTON...George J. "Bud" Krumwiede, 90, of Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria, formerly of Washington, passed away at 8:35 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Bud was born on August 12, 1921 in Buckley, Illinois to George H. and Carolina Weisenbarn Krumwiede. He married Lillian "Pauline" Nelson in Buckley on February 1, 1945. Pauline died on October 20, 1997 in Peoria. Among those surviving is one son, Gerald Krumwiede of Washington; one daughter, Toni (Lonnie) Cline of Washington; his caregiver and dear friend, Jerryann Lindsey; four grandchildren, Marcie (Bart) Washburn, Mindy (Dan) Weston, Jody Krumwiede and Joseph (Jaime) Cline; nine great grandchildren, William Washburn, John (Jessica Cantor) Washburn, Krystal Washburn, Jed Weston, Joe Weston, Jesse Weston, Jayden Weston, Melody Cline and Troy Cline and one great great grandson, Jack Washburn. Bud was also preceded in death by one son, Leslie; one grandson, David Cline; three sisters and four brothers. Bud retired in 1978 from Caterpillar where he had been a machinist and inspector for 31 years in the HH in East Peoria. He also had worked for Roehm?s Shoe Store and Gamble?s Store in Washington. Bud also had managed the Little Valley Motel in Washington as well as the Downtown Motel and Town House Motel in Peoria. A veteran of World War II, Bud served in the U.S. Army in Europe and earned the rank of Sargent. He had been stationed in England, France, Belgium, Poland and Germany. As a combat engineer he was on Utah Beach in France on D-Day (June 6, 1944) and was awarded the Bronze Star. Bud was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington and over the years also assisted in the maintenance of the church. He also was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a Ham Radio Operator and the Webco Goers Camping Club. Bud was also a great fan of music, especially country music and the "Beer Barrel Polka." Funeral services for Bud will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at noon at Mason-White Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Heren officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens with military rites to be accorded. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services at the funeral home.
