George R. Ballard

George Ray Ballard, 83, of Washington formerly of Peoria passed away at 6:38pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Unity Point Proctor Hospital in Peoria. He was born on July 12, 1930 in Lawrenceville, IL to Samuel and Lena Snider Ballard. He married Evida P. Beede on May 10, 1959 in Reno, Nevada. Surviving are his wife, five daughters Lyn (Stephen) Stanley, Gale (Terry) Hayes, Janet (Charles) Ingram, Julie (Steve) Firmand and Linda Saetana three sons George (Darci) Ballard, Rob Ballard and Tom Thomas. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren. His biological father, his mother, and his adoptive parents Charles and Thelma Snyder, three sisters Marie Lawrence, Jane Lenover, and Lucille Pugh, one brother Carl Ballard preceded him in death. George served 17 years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked for A.O. Smith Harvester in Eureka for many years Cremation rites have been accorded with no services scheduled. Memorials in his name may be given to the American Heart Association.
