Gene J. Fandel

Gene J. Fandel, 64, of Peoria, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.

He was born on July 19, 1962, in Peoria, IL, to Bernard and Arvilla (Kiesewetter) Fandel. He married Cathy A. Strum on December 16, 1999, in Peoria, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy of Peoria; step-children, Michael Fandel of Oak Lawn, IL, Heather (Jeff) Beeson of North Aurora, IL, and Heidi (Larry) Williamson of Bartonville, IL; eight grandchildren, Sedona, Nathan, Johnathon, Austin, Greyson, Tyson, Grant, and Graham; and siblings, Susan (Allan) Campbell of Germantown Hills, IL and Richard (Sandra) Fandel of Metamora, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Michael Fandel.

Gene worked as an accountant most of his life and retired from Precision Planning. He enjoyed woodworking, ballroom dancing, reading, and Sci-Fi.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria with Reverend Garry Geer officiating. The family asks that you wear casual clothing to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to TAPS No-Kill Shelter, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554.
