Gary F. Duchien, aged 76, of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2026, at Goldwater Care Center in Peoria.

He was born on January 6, 1950, in Peoria to James and Geraldine Lohmar Duchien.

Surviving are his twin brother Terry from Washington, along with cousins Janet (Michael) Flynn and Jill Hinnen, both of East Peoria, John Duchien of Austin, TX, and Suzie Boezi of Fairport, New York.

Gary was a lifelong resident of Washington. He attended Washington grade school, Washington High School, and Midstate College, where he earned a degree in Business. He spent twenty years working alongside his brother at Duchien Landscaping before spending sixteen years in the men’s department and the money vault. He was a member of the Washington Presbyterian Church, serving as both a deacon and elder.

He dedicated many years to serving on the Board of the Washington Historical Society and was also a former member of the Washington Lawn and County Garden Club.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Washington Presbyterian Church. Pastor John Napoli will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Washington Presbyterian Church or the Washington Historical Society. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington has been entrusted with arrangements.
