Galeen M. Driscoll

Galeen Marie (Noel) Driscoll, age 64, of Metamora, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014. She was born December 9, 1949 in Peoria to Milburn and Bernadine (DuBois) Noel. She married David F. Driscoll on April 4, 1970 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Metamora, IL. Surviving are her husband, David and children, Jennifer (Joe) Bergman of Washington, IL, Joelle (Matt) Felumlee of Normal, IL and Garey (Courtney) Driscoll of Princeton, IL; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joseph, Evan, Camryn, Colin, Owen and Lauren; three brothers, Ron (Marty) Noel and Leon (Deb) Noel both of Dallas, TX and Dale (Brenda) Noel of Dunlap, IL; and three sisters, Melody (Darrell) Hopper of Southhaven, MS, Carol (Dick) Schertz of Metamora, IL, and Bea (Dan) Elbert of East Peoria, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grandma Liz, Grandpa Noel, Grandma DuBois and Grandpa DuBois. Galeen graduated from St. Mary?s Grade School, Metamora, Academy of Our Lady High School, Peoria, Illinois State University where she earned her Bachelor?s Degree in Special and Elementary Education, and St. Xavier with her Master?s Degree. Galeen worked as a teacher for 34 years at Lincoln Grade School, Washington and Metamora Grade School, retiring in 2011. Galeen was a lifetime member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora. She was an auction chairman at Snyder Village. She was active for Relay for Life and the Suzi Russell Memorial Run. She was involved with multiple charitable events. She was a member of Illinois Valley Striders, Team Steam, Sole Sisters, and Bernadine?s Brigade in support of Alzheimer?s. She also enjoyed running and completed a half marathon at the age of 62. Her passion was making holidays and birthdays truly special events for her seven grandchildren. Galeen was a truly loving teacher, sister, mother, grandmother and loving and precious wife of 44 years. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Monday, March 10, 2014 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Metamora with Father Neri Greskoviak officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Metamora from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Metamora.
