Gail Iris (Sharp) Morger

Gail Iris Morger, 91, of East Peoria passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at her residence.

Gail was born on June 7, 1932, in East Peoria, IL to Ray and Jessie Hill Sharp. She married Melvin R. Morger on February 8, 1954. They were married for 66 years before his passing on February 22, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents, their daughter, Jeanine McMichael, 2 granddaughters, 1 great granddaughter, three sisters and four brothers

Surviving are their children Janice (Steve) Miller, Michael (Bridgitte-deceased) Morger, Judith (Bob-deceased) Blackwell, Mark (Donna) Morger, Julia Zehr, and Matthew Ross. She is grandmother to 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and a few great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister-in-law Neva Sharp of Washington State, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gail worked as a bookkeeper after high school at the First National Bank in East Peoria. After raising her children she worked at Cohen's Furniture in Peoria for 10 years.

She enjoyed various interests which included sewing, and bowling, and she was a meticulous homemaker. She loved working in the yard with her husband, was talented in decorating cakes, doing ceramics, flower arranging, and was skilled at doing Bob Ross "Joy of Painting" paintings.

Gail was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in East Peoria, of which her father, Ray, and her brothers were instrumental in constructing the building. She enjoyed her ties with her church and members, and was glad to be able to listen to many church sermons online.

Gail loved her family and will be missed by all and her life-long friends, Francis (Sis) Geier, and Esther Spinder.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held 10:30am on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. Rev. Krista Price will officiate. A time to celebrate her life will follow at the First United Methodist Church, 154 E. Washington St., in East Peoria, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her church, or Rescued Heart (veterinary clinic) in Pekin. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting with arrangements and notes of condolences may be sent using www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
