Frederick G. Schramm

Frederick G. Schramm, 89, of Washington passed away at 10:37am Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. He was born on March 3, 1927 in Danville, IL the son of Albert and Madge Cramer Schramm. He married Verna "Brownie" Bachman on March 6, 1946 in Danville. Surviving are his wife, their children Fredricka "Rickie" (Larry) Engelsman of Sycamore, IL, Vicki (Mike) Ryan of Germantown Hills, IL, Nancy (Mike) Burns of Metamora, IL, Peggy (Rick) Halverson of Stoughton, WI, Frederick (Annette) Schramm of St. Charles, IL and Joni (Jerry) Kiefner of Metamora, IL. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 infant daughter Janet, 1 grandson Daniel Ryan along with two brothers and one sister. Fred was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran. He worked for Ulrich Manufacturing in Roanoke for 25 years. He later worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 17 years retiring in 1989. Fred was a member of the Roanoke American Legion Post 463 and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed wood carving and cooking. Fred was truly a family man and will be missed by all that knew him. Funeral Services will be Noon Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington. Pastor Tom Heren will officiate. Visitation will be from 10am until 11:45am at the church. Burial will be in Roanoke City Cemetery in Roanoke, IL with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Washington.
