Frederick A. "Fred" Zant, 74, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 3:02 pm on Monday, May 31, 2021, at his residence. He was born on November 30, 1946, in Peoria, IL, to Russell T. and Marcella B. (Boehle) Zant.

Surviving are his siblings, Bernard Zant of Peoria, IL, Dolores "Dee" (Art) Kiesewetter of Metamora, Brother Louis Zant, OFM, of Detroit, MI, Kenneth (Elaine) Zant of Hartsel, CO, and Cecilia (the late Fred) Colvin of Redmond, OR; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph Zant.

Fred was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Forrest Royal during the Vietnam War. He was an electrician by trade. Fred was a member of the Spring Bay American Legion Post #1115. He was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed golfing, and was proud to have served his country in the military.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 7, 2021 at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora with Father Greg Jozefiak officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his memorial mass on Monday at the church. Burial of Ashes will immediately follow at St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Spring Bay American Legion Post #1115. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
