Freda Valera Melaik, 83, of Eureka and Peoria, IL area passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 5:20 pm at River City Crossing Nursing Home.

She was born on November 10, 1937 in Athens, AL, the daughter of Edgar and Mary (Smith) Sides. She married Dr. Lawrence Louis Melaik in 1957 in Eureka.

She is survived by one son, Adam Melaik of Peoria and two sisters, Della Prince of Bloomington, IL and Ginger Springer of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Gregory Melaik, four brothers, six sisters, and her son's father Larry Melaik.

Freda had a love of books, cooking, and animals.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel, 375 Old Germantown Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
