Francis "Frank" Montgomery, 85, of Washburn passed away at 9:56am on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke. He was born on February 28, 1928 in Joliet the son of William H. and Ida J. Moulton Montgomery. Surviving are two brothers George (Beverly) Montgomery of Washburn and Raymond Montgomery of Cazenovia. Many nieces and nephews also survive him. Two sisters Wanda and Ruth, two brothers Walter and Harold as well as two wives Geraldine Nutter and Carol Scott preceded him in death. Frank was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He resided in Washburn for most of his life and shared many stories about growing up during the depression and his fond memories of Washburn. After working as a carpenter in his younger days and spending twenty happy years as a custodian wit the Lowpoint-Washburn school system he spent a contented retirement enjoying the opportunity to do more fishing and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Taylor Masonic Lodge #98 AF&AM in Washington. At Frank?s request cremation rites have been accorded, with a graveside service on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11am at Buckingham Cemetery in rural Lowpoint.
