Floyd "Bud" J. Courtway

Floyd J. "Bud" Courtway, 79, of Spring Bay, IL, passed away at 11:18 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.  He was born on July 21, 1941, in Richwoods, MO to Ray C. and Rena K. (Boyer) Courtway.  He married Sandra K. Matheny on March 16, 1963 in Peoria, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra of Spring Bay; daughter, Michele (Ernie) Whittington of Princeton, IL; five grandchildren, Ashley (Josh) Hansen, Keith Kohtz, Adam (Evelyn) Hattan, Alyssa (Dalton) Sargeant, and Jesse Swanson; three great-grandchildren, Estella Hattan, Sophie Hansen, and Jacob Hattan; and seven siblings, Lester (Sandy) Courtway of Sparland, Robert (the late Karen) Courtway of Spring Bay, Jerry (Patti) Courtway of Victoria, IL, Bert (Connie) Courtway of Spring Bay, Michael (Donna) Courtway of Toulon, IL, Becky (Brian) Mulvaney of Norwood Park, IL, and Annea Eckenfels of Gerald, MO.  He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rena Strader, and four brothers.

Floyd worked as a gear technician for 31 years for Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring on December 1, 1996.  After retirement, he opened Courtway Landscaping.  Bud was an avid Cardinal fan.  He was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting.  He loved horses and belonged to the Morton Riding Club.  Bud never met a stranger.  He especially loved spending time with his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Reverend Kenny Kline officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of his service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will follow his burial at Bayview Town Hall at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Spring Bay Fire and Rescue, 310 West Missouri Street, Spring Bay, IL 61611.  Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
