Ferne E. Bachman

Ferne E. Bachman, 93, of Metamora, IL passed away at 5:10 AM on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.

She was born on July 25, 1932, in Washington, IL, to Peter and Elmira (Schertz) Imhoff. She married Russel Jay Bachman on February 24, 1951, in Metamora, IL. He passed away on July 2, 2022.

Surviving are her daughter, Janet (Danny) Shanks of Washington, IL; son, Keith (Susan Baker) Bachman of Metamora; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Dodwell, Scott Bachman, Jacquelyn (Adam) Bell, and Jay Bachman; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Imhoff; and grandson-in-law, Scott Weir.

Ferne graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked as the director of safety services for the American Red Cross and then later had a therapeutic massage business from her home. She was a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and the Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She loved to swim, read, ballroom dance with her husband, gospel music, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Metamora Mennonite Church with Dr. Jon Byler officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time, also at the church on Saturday. A luncheon will be held after the service with a family graveside service at Hickory Point Cemetery following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Snyder Village Resident-In-Need Fund, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
