Everett F. "Butch" McClellan, Jr., 67, of Washington, IL passed away at 11:45 pm on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Washington Christian Village. He was born on February 17, 1951 in Pekin, IL to Everett F. and Ruby (Logue) McClellan, Sr. He married Sharon Hodge on February 7, 1989 and remained very much happy and in love until his passing.
Surviving are his loving wife Sharon of Washington; son Everett F. (Phyllis) McClellan, III of Harold, KY; daughters Dawn (Jon) Davis of Chillicothe, Jorie Holtman of Cape Coral, FL, and Mandi (Brad) Rios of Fox Lake, IL; step-sons Brian (Sheila) Gunzenheiser of Pekin and Jon (Jan) Gunzenheiser of Tulsa, OK; step-daughter Karen (Scott) Andrews of West LaFayette, IN; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother Ernest (Debbie) McClellan of Cape Coral, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters-in-law Nancy Molendi and June Fidler.
Being the oldest of two sons, Butch learned hard work early with the family waste management company, taking over at age 15 when his father's health began to fail. At age 22 he joined the ranks at Caterpillar where he worked for 31 years until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Local 974 UAW and Masonic Lodge 1170 Creve Coeur. As an avid motorcyclist, he served many years with the A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois Freedom Valley Chapter where he developed the safety and educational courses for schools and even served as Chapter President for one year. He was always happiest riding his Harley with his beloved wife Sharon.
He was a member of RiversEdge United Methodist Church in Spring Bay. He loved his family, friends, and church family greatly. He had a special place in his heart for children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout everything he kept his great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.
Per Butch's request, cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Spring Bay American Legion Post 1115. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois Freedom Valley Chapter, P.O.
