Eunis "Boone" Smithee

Eunis E. "Boone" Smithee, 91, of Minier, IL, formerly of Washington, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, IL. He was born on April 10, 1926 in Mountain View, AR the son of John and Anlue Ward Smithee. Eunis married Doris F. Walters on October 11, 1952 in East Peoria, IL. Surviving Eunis is his wife and their five children, Theresa (Jerry) Horn of Armington, IL; David Smithee of Camby, IN; Rebecca Delaney of Minier, IL; Mark Smithee of East Peoria, IL; and Christopher (Angela) Smithee of Lindale, TX. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Further surviving are two brothers Leroy (Marian) Smithee and Franklin (Valdarene) Smithee all of Monette, AR. One sister and six brothers preceded him in death. Eunis was an honorably discharged U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WWII stationed in the South Pacific and Japan before being honorably discharged. He then worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 31 years retiring in 1980. He had many enjoyments in life, but especially enjoyed a good round of golf. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00AM Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Mike McCoskey and Pastor Jason Shults will officiate. Visitation will be one-hour prior to his service also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.
