Esther S. Springer

Esther S. Springer, 91, of Washington, passed away at 7:27 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora. She was born on June 28, 1925, in Peoria, the daughter of Theodore and Clara Meyer Stormer. She married Richard W. Springer on January 28, 1945, in Peoria. He passed away on January 8, 2002. Surviving are one son Douglas R. (Dawn) Springer of Glenview, IL; two daughters Jean K. (Kenneth) Freeburn of Germantown Hills, IL and Marilyn J. (Steve) Chaney of Bloomington, IL. Esther was a lifelong member of Washington Evangelical United Methodist Church, where she served as church treasurer along with her husband, as well as, a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a true farmer's wife, taking an active role in many aspects of farm life. She prided herself in having a large vegetable and flower garden which included over 50 varieties of Iris. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Snyder Village, for their compassionate care of Esther these past two years. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Washington Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington. Rev. Dr. Camilla Hempstead will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
