Esther Chaney

WASHINGTON...Esther A. Chaney, 93, Germantown Hills, formerly of Washington, passed away at 8:15 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Evenglow Health Center in Pontiac. Esther was born on March 16, 1918 in Washington to Henry and Grace Reinholtz Dieble. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Eldon Stein, Richard Griffin and Alvin Chaney. Among those surviving is one daughter, Linda (Art) Cochran-Griggs of Pontiac; one son-in-law, John Schmidt of Washington; one sister, Dorothy (Tony) Guteriza of Joliet; many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Esther was also preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Dall; an infant son, Ronnie Stein and two brothers. She retired from Piggly-Wiggly where she had worked for many years as a price checker. Esther loved to travel and for many years enjoyed spending the winter months in Texas. She also enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She was a member of St. Mark?s Lutheran Church in Washington. Graveside services for Esther will be on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Glendale Cemetery in Washington with Pastor John Bates officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded with Mason-White Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials for Esther may be directed to the Washington Historical Society.
