Elizabeth (Liz) A. King (nee: Baum) 93, of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Lutheran Hillside Village. Elizabeth was born on March 19, 1929, in Decatur, a daughter of Charles and Alta Marie (Flowers) Patterson. She married Gerald (Jerry) Baum on October 2, 1949 in Decatur, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2001 in Peoria, Illinois. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Tom Baum of Diamondhead, Mississippi; daughter, JoAn (Mike) Grane of Peoria; and granddaughters, Raigan Grane of Milwaukee and Jessica (Brandon) Bong and their son Jack of Washington; sister, Sally Wilson of Springfield; 4 step grandchildren; and 11 great step grandchildren. Elizabeth worked at the Peoria Journal Star in classified ads for twenty-five years. She retired in 1994. After retirement , she loved exercise so she joined River City Athletic Club, there she made many dear friends. After moving to LHV, She continued exercising with Joy M and Laura, until she could no longer participate due to failing health. She loved the St louis Cardinals and Bradley men's basketball. Jerry and she enjoyed decades as Bradley season ticket holders. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a great listener, witty, kind and loving . A private memorial service will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth's memory to Center for Prevention of Abuse, Unity Point Hospice or Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation.
